About Us
Mostly Water includes four good friends who love making vibrant music in a roots-Americana style. They grew up in different parts of the country pursuing different music traditions. But they’ve come together in Seattle to play rich acoustic music—many originals, some not—all rendered with fine vocals and tasty instrumentation.
Leslie Braly
As a youngster in Alabama, Leslie fell in love with music while watching Hee-Haw and Dolly! with her grandmother. She joined her first band in high school and when she bought her first guitar, the magic really started happening—she started writing her own songs. She released a CD with her band in Alabama and later moved to Seattle to start a new musical chapter and a family.
Kathy Humphrey
Kathy was raised a musically-mixed up kid in Idaho—an obsessed classical pianist who toyed with country music on her guitar and sang in vocal jazz groups. In college, she played percussion in a symphony orchestra in the U.S and Europe. When she took up the stand-up bass, she zeroed in traditional country music and bluegrass. She sang and played with Seattle-based Rodeo Lagoon for five years.
Jason Parker
Growing up in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky gave mandolin player, Jason Parker, the opportunity to experience bluegrass firsthand. He picked up mandolin at age 13 and guitar at 11, and joined his first band after moving to the west coast in 1983. He’s performed in bluegrass and Americana bands ever since. Jason was mandolin player for Seattle-based Lost in the Fog for nine years, releasing two CDs with them.
John Owen
Born and raised in the Blue Mountains of Oregon, John combines the "Blue" and the "Mountain" in his music. He started playing in rock and country bands at 15 and has studied with some jazz, classical and bluegrass masters. Through the years, he’s played with a number of bands spanning a range of styles and instruments. With Mostly Water, he focuses on the guitar, dobro and performing his original songs.
